Yankees Rivalry Roundup Snell Dominates And Kimbrel Implodes In Os Loss

Yankees Rivalry Roundup: Snell Sizzles on the Mound, Kimbrel Falters in Baltimore

Snell Spins a Gem, Braves Blank Yankees

In the first game of the highly anticipated three-game series between the division rivals, Blake Snell stifled the Yankees' offense, tossing 6 2/3 innings of scoreless ball. The left-hander struck out nine batters and allowed just three hits in a dominant performance. The Braves' offense provided just enough support, with Ronald Acuña Jr. launching a solo home run in the second inning. The Yankees' bats were largely held in check by Snell and the Atlanta bullpen, managing just four hits on the night.

Kimbrel Implodes in 10th, Orioles Stun Red Sox

In a thrilling nail-biter at Camden Yards, the Orioles rallied from a late deficit to defeat the Red Sox in extra innings. After the Red Sox took the lead in the top of the 10th inning on a sacrifice fly by Alex Verdugo, closer Craig Kimbrel entered the game looking to slam the door. However, the veteran right-hander uncharacteristically struggled with his command, walking the first two batters he faced and loading the bases with one out. Ryan McKenna then delivered the game-winning hit, a two-run single that sent the Orioles faithful into a frenzy.
