De Berk windmill in Barger-Compascuum finally gets the wind in its sails. Mill is being renovated and has a chance of winning 75,000 euros

Finally, the long-awaited renovation of the De Berk windmill in Barger-Compascuum can begin.

The municipality of Emmen has allocated 285,000 euros for this purpose, and the province of Drenthe has also contributed 75,000 euros from the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development.

With this financial injection, the mill can finally be restored to its former glory. The renovation is expected to take about a year and a half, and the mill is expected to be operational again in the summer of 2024.
