An Important Traditional Celebration
The Dragon Boat Festival is one of the most important traditional festivals in China. It falls on the 5th day of the 5th month on the Chinese lunar calendar. In 2024, it falls on Jun 10, 2024. There are many legends about the 2000-year-old festival. One of the most popular legends is that the festival commemorates the death of Qu Yuan, a Chinese poet who drowned himself in the Miluo River in 278 BC. Chinese people hold The Dragon Boat Festival on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month. Many boats take to the river racing each other in contests.
